Real simply, the book World Wide Rave by David Meerman Scott, changed the way I think about my business. I think it is a must read for any of you interested in reaching out to your potential market through the internet. What’s interesting is that most of the social media techniques being taught out there seem to follow the principles established in this book.
If you want to get a glimpse of what it is about, go to Google Books and look it up. You can read part of the book without buying it. Unfortunately for me, after reading it, I gave it to my brother, and haven’t seen it since.
If you are on the path of learning more about social media and are trying to develop a strategy of you own, this book will lay the foundation of what it’s all about and help define many do’s and don’ts.

Larry and Kathleen Cragun, founders of the Undressed Network (G rated), along with co-presenters Patrick Flynn and Jim Warner successfully delivered the first computer lab to Bloggle your Mind. Hosted at Lake Washington Technical College – Redmond Campus last Friday, Dec. 4th, the 6 hour event was a success by all.
The Hub and Spokes Solution (H&SS) lab delivers your own blog on the undressed or ablogaboutit networks, a complete manual, and hands-on instruction in a computer-friendly environment. The goal is for the student to leave the lab with all their H&SS components up and running and have a system in place so that they can start posting content and start attracting readership immediately.
The hub is your blog and the spokes are all the other social media elements to support readership and convey quality content to your market. I am truly excited about this solution as it answers the “how” question for so many of us out here that inherently know at this point that social media and the need to find our markets is at hand. The beauty of the H&SS is that once implemented, it is an extremely low cost way to reach out and touch your clients, your prospects, and your market.
The prerequisite to the lab is a 4 hour workshop that delivers the philosophy of the system and helps the participants answer questions like: what should I blog about it?, who do I want reading it?, how do I reach these people?, etc.
We will be helping deliver the workshop and the lab at Real Education. We are in the process of announcing dates for 2010.
